Sheldon Museum of Art

For more than 50 years, Sheldon Museum of Art has provided a venue for students, faculty, alumni, and visitors to engage with art and one another. The museum houses a collection of nearly 13,000 artworks including 19th-century landscape and still life, American impressionism, early modernism, geometric abstraction, abstract expressionism, pop, minimalism, and contemporary art. Admission is free.

International Quilt Museum

Located on the University of Nebraska’s East Campus, the International Quilt Museum – also known as Quilt House – is home to the largest known public collection of quilts in the world. The collection of more than 6,000 quilts from 50 countries range from early examples of American and European quilts to contemporary studio quilts and international quilts.

National Museum of Roller Skating

Home to the largest collection of roller-skating memorabilia in the world, the museum features exhibits with artifacts dating back to the early 19th century. From the first introduction of roller skating to the public to its emergence as one of the USA’s favorite recreational activities, the museum explores five decades of the sport.

Lester F. Larsen Tractor Test & Power Museum

The museum’s collection represents the history of tractor testing in Nebraska since 1920, as well as the advancement of tractor technology from the early teens to 1960s. It features dozens of tractors and artifacts on display and guests visiting during the week are invited to tour the current tractor testing facility located next door.

Bob Devaney Sports Center

Named for former Nebraska football coach and longtime athletic director Bob Devaney, this world-class facility is home to multiple Husker programs, including volleyball, wrestling, gymnastics, swimming and diving, and track and field. The Center features amenities that make it a premier Olympic sport venue in the nation, including five suites and a high-definition center-hung video board.

Haymarket Park

Lincoln's newest sports complex offers a great family experience. The park includes baseball and softball stadiums along with park grounds and trail areas. It is home to the Saltdogs Independent League baseball team, Lincoln's representative in the American Association League. The University of Nebraska baseball teams play here spring through early fall.

Historic Haymarket District

When Lincoln was established in 1867, the "Market Square" was an open-air market for produce and livestock. Wagons and animals filled the square. Now called the Haymarket District, today it is a thriving, safe, walkable area chock-full of restaurants, bars, breweries, ice cream shops, and a variety of shops. It’s the perfect place to gather before or after a Huskers game.

Pioneers Park Nature Center

Encompassing 668 acres of tallgrass prairie, woodlands, wetlands and a stream, the Nature Center has served as an environmental education center and wildlife sanctuary since 1963. Come walk the trails, meet the animals, listen to the birds, treat yourself to the smells of the herb garden, and learn from the many exhibits. It’s perfect for any age and any season.

Sunken Gardens

The only Nebraska garden to be listed in the “300 Best Gardens to Visit in the United States and Canada” by National Geographic, this beautiful and lush paradise is gently nuzzled in the middle of the city. Tiptoe through the tulips every spring and watch the thousands of annuals and perennials bloom all summer long.

Nebraska Governor’s Mansion

The Nebraska Governor's Mansion is the official residence of the governor of Nebraska and his family. It is a modified Georgian Colonial home and sits on an entire city block. The grounds include large lawns, gardens, walking paths, and a grand water fountain. Guided tours are offered on Thursday afternoons by appointment only.

Catch the exciting energy of the Lincoln Stars hockey team at The Ice Box, a 5,010-seat multi-purpose arena located on the former Nebraska State Fairgrounds – adjacent to the University of Nebraska. The Stars are a Tier I junior ice hockey team that plays in the United States Hockey League (USHL).

Nestled between Memorial Stadium, the Hawks Championship Center and the NU Coliseum, the Huskers' outdoor track is in the heart of Nebraska's athletic complex. Since its opening in 1975, the stadium has hosted eight National Junior Olympics, a USA-USSR Junior Dual Meet, six Big Eight Outdoor Championships, one Special Olympics, and one Big 12 Outdoor Championship.

Many people and cultures have made Nebraska what it is today. Learn about life in Nebraska before it became a state, what it was like to live in Nebraska during the early years of statehood, and the moments that have affected all Nebraskans. The museum has over 125,000 objects in its collections and continues to collect items that tell the story of Nebraska’s history.

Encompassing more than 150,000 sq. ft. over three levels, this museum showcases a stunning array of history-making cars, engines, parts, pedal cars, automotive toys, and memorabilia. Racing displays range from dirt tracks to the Indy 500 and include the world’s largest collection of exotic and historic American racing engines from the early 1900s to present day.

Nebraska State Holocaust Memorial

Truly a project of the people of Nebraska, the Memorial remembers the atrocities of the Holocaust and those who were victims, as well as those who worked to protect and save them. Built to honor the more than one and one-half million children murdered in the Holocaust, the memorial’s Butterfly Garden serve as a place of beauty and peace.

American Historical Society of Germans from Russia Museum and Library

This non-profit educational museum is dedicated to the discovery, collection, preservation, and dissemination of information related to the history, cultural heritage, and genealogy of Germanic settlers in the Russian Empire and their descendants. Browse photos, quilts, musical instruments, wedding dresses, clothing, and furniture. There is no admission fee, but donations are welcomed.

Hyde Observatory

When it was constructed in 1977, this observatory was the only facility in the U.S. built and operated entirely by donations, devoted exclusively to public viewing. Today, the observatory features three telescopes to capture amazing views of the moon, planets, as well as star clusters, and even a few galaxies. And there is no admission charge.

Realizing the need for a trail system in downtown Lincoln, the Great Plains Trails Network was formed to support a network of 131 miles of trails in and around Lancaster County for jogging, biking, walking, and horseback riding. Campus Bus Service

Bus and van services connect university campuses with full weekday routes and schedules. The university contracts with the City of Lincoln StarTran to provide buses. These services are provided by the student transit fee and parking revenue. At this time, no pass is required to ride the bus or van.

Nebraska has won a total of 29 national titles in school history, in a total of five sports. In addition to five national football championships, Husker teams have won eight national titles in men's gymnastics, eight in women's bowling, five in women's volleyball, and three in women's indoor track and field.
